Special Team Comprising 10 China Government Officials Arrive In KLIA Tonight

SEPANG, March 10 -- A special team comprising 10 officials from the Republic of China arrived here tonight to help Malaysia investigate the case of the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 aircraft.

The team, headed by the Republic of China Consular Affairs Department deputy director Guo Shao Chun, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8pm.

Guo said their presence, among others, was aimed at managing the needs and comfort of the families of the passengers involved in the incident.

"We have also come here to find a way for a suitable settlement to the case, and at the same time, boost the communication platform between the two nations," he said when met by reporters here tonight.

Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, Defence and Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the United States and China were also helping to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the aircraft.

He said the Malaysian Government was conducting a fragmentation investigation by researching the background of those onboard Flight MH370.

He said the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Chinese authorities would also help the Malaysian authorities.

Flight MH370 lost contact with the Air Traffic Control Centre in Subang at 2.40am, about two hours after taking off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang on Saturday.

The Boeing B777-200 aircraft, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members, was scheduled to land in Beijing, China at 6.30am on the same day.
